DONA International Certified

Doula: A woman trained and experienced in childbirth who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to women during pregnancy, labour, birth and the postpartum period.

Services provided:

• Private prenatal education
• Labour and birth support
• Breastfeeding support/classes
• Postpartum in home care
• Postpartum depression and anxiety education and support
• Photography, Blessingways, Belly casting/painting/mehendi

Studies have shown, that with a doula:

• The duration of the birth process is decreased by as much as 25%
• Cesarean surgery rates is reduced by 50%
• Requests for pain medications is reduced by 60%
• There is over all greater satisfaction with birth
• There is increased success in breastfeeding
• There is lower incidence of postpartum depression and faster recovery
• Women who have doulas at their birth have been assessed as being more sensitive, loving, and responsive to their infants
